Policies:
Construction of new homes, garages, storage buildings, or any additions to
existing structures, all require permits. Any mobile homes moved into the
city limits may only be moved to the designated zones.  Check with City Hall
in advance of plans.


Payments:
Payments may be hand delivered to City Hall during business hours or by
using the mail drop. Payments can be drafted at the First State Bank of
Chico or paid there in person. City Hall's address is:  P.O. Box 37, Chico, TX
76431.


Water Billing:
Billing for water, sewage, and trash pick-up is mailed to customers on the
first of the month. Payment is expected by the 20th of the month or late fees
will accrue. Payment must be received at the latest including penalties by
the 20th day of the next month or water will be turned off. A $50.00
reconnect fee will be charged.  All reconnects must be paid with cash or
money order only - NO CHECKS!

Returned Checks:
Returned check charge is $35.00.  Should the City receive a returned check
for payment of any City service, the City of Chico will retain the right to
refuse further checks on that account, and the account shall become a cash
or money order account only.  

Water Deposit:
A deposit of at least $100.00 is required to get water turned on at an existing
meter. The deposit will be used toward the bill when service is
discontinued. The deposit will be refunded to the customer in full after two
years if payment of bills have been received in full and on time.

Garbage & Recycling Information:
Garbage is picked up every week on Wednesday. Garbage must be in plastic
bags, put in your curbside container and set at the curb by 7:00 a.m.
Recycling is picked up every other Wednesday. Check with City Hall for start
day. Use the assigned bin for metal cans, aluminum, glass, plastic, and
newspaper.


NEW CONVENIENCE CENTER:
The city now has a new convenience center that citizens of Chico can utilize
for larger items; brush, scrap metal, tires, etc. The hours are from 10-12 and
from 1-3 on Wednesday and Saturday. It is located off of Mount Street. You
must present a paid water bill and a picture ID that matches the name on the
water bill in order to use the facility. Call the city if you need more
information.

PETS:
All pets must be registered with the City.  Current rabies vaccination must
be on file, according to State law.   The registration will need to be renewed
yearly.  The City of Chico does have a leash law, as well several other
guidelines for pets.  See City Ordinance link and look up "Animal Control"
for specific questions or concerns.
